COMMUNITY OUTREACH
CANCER SUPPORT FOUNDATION
Since 2004, Tru II Form and the Cancer Support Foundation have been sponsoring exercise classes for women cancer survivors. Twice a week Tru II Form opens up its doors and its facility as a free service to the women in the community that
are recovering from cancer.
Regular exerecise is well known to increase notibly the survival rate of cancer patients that have undergone radiation or chemotherapy treatment.
Classes under the careful guidance of certified instructor, Nancy Cole, are held each Monday and Wednesday mornings
at 10:15 AM. Classes are about 1 hour in duration. A letter from your doctor is required before registering for these classes, however.
All that are entered in to the program are also invited to use any other of the gym's cardio equipment as available (treadmill, eliptical, stationary bike, stepper, rowing).
Also, our beautiful spa (whirlpool, sauna, showers) is available as an added inducement to exercise.
THE SHAD IRELAND FOUNDATION
Tru II Form opens its doors to kidney dialysis patients in cooperation with the Shad Ireland Foundation. In July of 2004 Shad Ireland became the first kidney dialysis patient ever to compete in and complete an Ironman Triathalon!
Shad had been diagnosed with kidney disease in 1983 at the age of 10. His mother was told not to expect him to live past the age of 25. Now at the age of 32 he undergoes dialysis three time a week for four and a half hours a day. His training regiment consists of a six day week with alternating days emphasizing each of the three events that make up the Ironman competition. Shad continues to compete around the United States to passionately inspire other chronically ill or healthy individuals to overcome life obstacles through exercise and dedication.
The Shad Ireland Foundation provides funding allowing the dialysis patient to hire a personal trainer to guide and monitor the patient's fitness regimen. Tru II Form provides the patient with free membership in the gym and full use of its facilities. To learn more about the Shad Ireland Foundation go to www.shadirelandfoundation.com
COMMUNITY FUND RAISERS AND CHARITIES
Tru II Form has provided gift certificates to over one hundred community fund raisers and charities. These gift certificates (typically two certificates, each with a value of over $300) cover the bearer's one time initiation fee and one month membership in the gym. A personal trainer also provides the new member an orientation with instruction in equipment useage to ensure that their exercise and fitness regimen is both safe and meets their objectives.
